Welcome to the Kula Manu! We are BYU-Hawaii's Journal of Art and Literature, that has been ongoing since the 1960's. We accept submissions from all students, faculty, and community members in the greater Laie area. We are looking for stories, essays, poems, photographs, and works of art that inspire, entertain, challenge, or change us.
The Kula Manu is a one-of-a-kind journal, and like each of us are one-of-a-kind, we hope you submit pieces that give us a glimpse of you! We are attempting to capture a picture of life here in Laie, this is a unique gathering place, and we hope to gather your unique story with it!
We accept a wide variety of work, but are especially interested in essays that examine and explore the multicultural/cross-cultural BYUH experience.
You may submit up to two essays during the submission period. Essays should not exceed 3,000 words and should be double spaced. Please do not include your name or personal information in the file with your essay, as we have a blind editorial review process (reviewers and editors will not see your name or personal information until your work has either been accepted or declined).
